Ryan Trecartin sent me his movies!

Just like the title says… Ryan Trecartin has sent me his movies on DVD.  I’m thinking about having a screening at my house.  Maybe with face-painting.

 Awesome.

Thanks,

 M

On Tuesday I went to the Metropolitan Opera House to see Carmen with my good friend Taylor.  She was nice enough to take me long as her date with tickets she got from her birthday.

I think I’d like to go again and again.  Maybe one day, I’ll have season tickets.

John Frieda can suck it

I bought his Radiant Red product last night, and I don’t notice a difference at all.  I don’t have more luster, I don’t have more shine, and you can kiss multi-tonal color goodbye.  That motherfucker is going to pay.

Last night my friends and I went to see Kaiju Big Battel at Webster Hall.  It was loud and I got into it.  I would cheer and hoot and hollah!  The video above shows the characters in action.

 Check out their site here.

Their wiki is also really great.

Ryan Trecartin… I’m in love with Ryan Trecartin.  Here’s what we know for sure.

  1. I saw Ryan’s video “A Family Finds Entertainment” (a portion of which is above) at the Whitney 2006 Biennial.  It was easily my favorite thing there.
  2. I wrote Ryan a Myspace message.  He wrote back and said, “Let’s get together when I come to New York”
  3. I saw Ryan at his Art Opening at the Elizabeth Dee gallery for his latest film I:Be:Area.  Afterwards, I wrote a missed connection on Craigslist
  4. I wrote him a YouTube love letter.  It went like this:  Hey Ryan,

I saw you in NYMag. That’s so cool.

I fell in love with your work after I saw it at the Whitney last year. It was easily my favorite thing there.

I went to your art opening at The Elizabeth Dee gallery. You were really busy, so I didn’t get a chance to come over and introduce myself.

The plan was, after introducing myself, I was going to flirt with you, be charming, and slip you my number. My hope was that after your long and successful day with your premiere and everything, you’d open your wallet the next day and say to yourself, “You know what? That Michael guy was cute and nice. I’m going to give him a ring”. And then you’d call me and we’d get coffee or watch a vampire/zombie movie.

But since none of that actually happened I am reduced to writing you a fan letter on YouTube.

I hope you’re well. Keep up the good work.

    fondly,

    Michael
  5. He wrote back and asked for my address.  I thought he was going to send me something (he hasn’t)
  6. Just this past December, I saw him give a fascinating and manic talk about his work at the New Museum.  I sat in the front row, and afterwards, I shook his hand.

So that’s it.  He’s awesome.  His work is insane.

And here

I’m seeing Dan Deacon play tonight at The Whitney.  Crystal Cat is my Powersong on my Nike+ running system

I saw The Teenagers play Studio B last Saturday.  They were great, and I think I’m in love with the lead singer and his dirty hot moustache.

The only problem I had with the show was that it was 18+ and I looked around and everyone was 19 years old and really small and adorable.  Lots of cool hair though.  Anyways, I didn’t stick around long after the performance.  Two boys in there asked me to buy them a beer.

“And don’t forget to send me a friend request”

This is a piece of clothing from John Galliano’s Fall 2008 Men’s Collection.  It was inspired by torture (duh).  I heard about it on the most recent episode of one of my favorite shows, On The Media.
 You can here.
Did you know that Galliano was the inspiration for Mugatu’s hobo-threads in Zoolander?  Me neither.  Gotta love that NPR.

I’m obsessed with this song.  I really enjoy that it’s over the top dirty.  Bangers & Cash is the name of Spank Rock’s 2LiveCrew inspired group… enjoy.
